Joe Fresh Spring 2011

When I came home from Peru, I found this amazeballs Joe Fresh catalogue in my mailbox. I was never a Joe Fresh devotee like so many people I know, but this catalogue caught my eye... It encompasses all the major trends for Spring 2011 and at prices like this, you can't really go wrong, right?

Joe Fresh is available at Loblaws & Maxi & co. locations everywhere as well as the new Joe Fresh Studio located at 395 Jean Talon West (corner Hutchinson; near Jean Talon metro).

What to Wear Where - THE BOOK!

my heart skipped a beat when I saw Who What Wear's latest email newsletter; they've launched their 2nd book, this one, entitled What to Wear Where gives outfit suggestions for over 50 events. If their site and daily fashion tips are any indication, I'm sure this book will be helping me out of many fashion emergencies...

it also features a forward by my fashion icon Nicole Richie.

read more about it here: What to Wear Where

Riccardo Tisci at Dior?

after the Galliano melt-down (if you live under a rock, you can read about it here) the fashion world and fashionistas were abuzz about what would happen at Dior... who would replace John Galliano? who would replace whoever was replacing John Galliano? (Scott Schuman aka the Sartorialist speculated the fashion world musical chairs on his blog last week) but reports today out of Paris are linking Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci to take over at Dior.

for those of you who aren't familiar with Tisci he is an Italian fashion designer who has been the creative director at Givenchy for the past 6 years. he's probably best known for designing the costumes for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour in 2008 as well as being responsible for Ciara's good fashion sense as of late.

However, the Dior plot thickens...

Style.com tweeted yesterday that the Lanvin staff was "in tears" - forcing people to ask, could Alber Elbaz be replacing Galliano?

Both rumors are unconfirmed and the world is waiting on breath that is baited for an announcement out of Dior.

In the meantime, here's some of my fave Tisci at Givenchy looks;

Peru

so as some of you may be aware, I was on vacation for a week in Peru. no, I did not climb Machu Picchu or go to Lake Titicaca. instead I spent a week in the city of Lima.

although Lima may not be a "conventional" vacation spot, it's a culturally rich city, the 5th largest in South America and one of the largest financial hubs in Latin America.

the historic centre of Lima, a UNESCO world heritage site, houses so many beautiful, colorful, architecturally rich buildings;

we also spent a night at a cultural association event showcasing various dances from various regions of Peru; more than just the dances, the show was a sight for the eyes. each of the costumes was so intricate and colorful and beautiful and really showcased Peruvian personalities. it was easily one of my favorite evenings of the trip;

another great aspect of Peru was the FOOD; even for a picky eater like me! Peru is said to have the best cuisine in South America, and it is not an understatement! they're known for the ceviche (which I did not try!) but I did have possibly, the best arroz con pato (duck risotto), IN THE WORLD.

all in all; a great trip! it really opened my eyes to a whole new culture... I suggest visiting Lima if you ever have the chance, or at the very least, read up on it!

and now I'm back and I will dedicate myself to this blog... so much to cover from John Galliano's meltdown to the horrid Montreal weather to various Fashion weeks to the amazeballs Joe Fresh catalogue that I found in my mailbox upon my return. all coming up this week!
